TATTOO CARE

Keep in mind that everybody has a different skin type, and therefore the steps listed below are more of a guideline, than mandatory rules.

If it comes to your new tattoo, it is important to keep it moist and clean at all times.
If your skin gets dry more quickly- feel free to use healing cream more often.

STEP ONE

PROTECTION

Your new tattoo was covered with a protective, waterproof, breathable tattoo film, which prevents it from drying and getting dirty.

You may see ink, blood, and/or plasma leaving your skin and gathering under the foil, which is natural during the healing process.
Don’t be afraid, it won’t be harmful to your new tattoo.

The protective film can be taken off 24-48 hours after application. Gently peel the film off under running water.
It will come off with some of your dead skin (epidermis) which is normal during the healing process.

STEP TWO

CLEANING

Once you have taken off the foil, wash your new tattoo with hypoallergic soap (scented soap may irritate your skin).
Soap for intimate hygiene or Gray soap will work perfectly.

You can now dry your tattoo (use only disposable kitchen towels or unscented wet wipes).
The last step is moisturizing your tattoo with the healing cream (explained below).

STEP THREE

HEALING

For the first three weeks, you will need a tattoo healing cream which can be bought at our studio, or the Bepanthen cream (any pharmacy store will have it, a prescription is not required). After three weeks you can stop using healing cream and switch to any moisturizer.

During the first 7 days, you should wash your tattoo and apply healing cream around 3-4 times a day. If you are at work or occupied and cannot take those steps, use unscented moisturizing tissues.

After 7 days you can apply the steps when you think necessary. It is important to keep the tattoo moistened at all times, but don’t overdo it! A thin layer of the healing cream 3-4 times a day will suffice.

FINAL STEP

IMPORTANT

After peeling the foil off your skin might redden. Do not be alarmed. It’s a normal skin reaction.
You can celebrate your new tattoo with a beer, but do not drink more. Also, make sure that you don’t irritate your tattoed skin.

Avoid manual workouts e.g. heavy lifting for 7 to 10 days. A fresh tattoo is a fresh wound and must have proper conditions to heal.

Avoid places like gyms and swimming pools as they are infested with germs and bacteria. During the first 3 weeks do not soak your tattoo for longer than necessary. (Again, no swimming pool/lake, etc.)

In the first 30 days cover your tattoo from direct sun, afterward remember to put SPF 50 once you are in the sun.
