ABOUT

Katarzyna Glinka

An interdyscyplinary artist born in Warsaw. Graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, Poland, and after stations in Madrid, Gdansk, Wroclaw, and Toulouse she currently lives and works in Berlin. While her specializations in the studies were fashion design and painting, today her main focus is painting, digital art and colorful tattoos.

She participated in many solo and group exhibitions connected with painting, as well as with fashion design. Currently, she is working on a series of oil paintings. This oeuvre takes a strong reference to feminism and the social situation of women, especially in eastern Europe.

On a daily basis, she is tattooing custom-made artworks. This field of applicated art allows her creativity outside of conventional boundaries and forms of expression. The linked social environment gives her deep insights into burning social topics and concerns, and different cultural backgrounds. Engagement in a queer studio collective is part of her doing, enhancing her experimentations with the fluidity of gender and standing strong against predefined role models.

Her art is characterized by the interaction of colors, which she expresses throughout the wide range of possibilities in different media and technology.
